From a young age I always enjoyed computing: mostly as a hobby as my school didn’t have a “technical” based IT subject, it was mainly business related IT.

I went on to study Computer Games Programming for a year at university – where I was one of 25 students, and I was the only female. I swapped my course to Computer Science, where again, I was one of six females on a course of 120+ students. I graduated with an Upper Second Class Honours and began applying for jobs that interested me.

I came across BAE Systems AI Grad Scheme, and on a whim I applied. Here I am, almost four years later, having finished the scheme and specialising in Automation Testing. I chose BAE Systems because they are determined to bridge the historical gender gap in the industry, which I have experienced every step of my academic career. They also strive to support LGBTQ+ employees and allies through many initiatives as well as being a Stonewall Diversity Champion and sponsoring many pride events in the UK.
