Anastasiia Izmailova

At age 17, I moved to the UK to study Mathematics at the University of St Andrews.

Always being interested in technology and innovation, I decided to pick Computer Science as an extra subject. Little did I know this decision would be life-changing: I fell in love with programming.

During my time at the university I was heavily involved with Computing Society, arranging tech talks and networking sessions. I became a head organizer of the main university hackathon and a co-founder of a mini-hackathon for 1st and 2nd years to give them a taste of innovation. As Class Representative, I negotiated on behalf of my year group, and provided feedback to teaching staff , to ensure all my classmates got the best academic experience possible.

My two summer internships with J.P. Morgan persuaded me that I wanted a career in computing (as opposed to just a hobby!), and I joined their graduate software engineering programme in 2019.

Since then, I have built out cutting-edge FX trading functionality a part of my role as a technologist for J.P. Morgan Markets Execute, J.P Morgan’s award-winning single dealer platform.

My technology contributions to J.P. Morgan Markets Execute trading application combined with my experiences championing inclusion, diversity and charitable causes gave me the skills and experience to achieve a rare early promotion to associate.
