Anne Rose

I am an associate in Mishcon de Reya’s commercial team and Co-Lead of the firm’s Blockchain Group.

I joined Mishcon de Reya in August 2018 from Simons Muirhead & Burton LLP having trained at Reed Smith LLP.

As a child I wanted to know how everything worked and why. My parents encouraged this and I did a new project every summer. One summer I learnt how to make a radio; another – HTML and C*+. My love of learning programming languages went from there and in later years I learnt Swift and Solidity.

I first heard of blockchain when I was at university. It wasn’t until a few years later however when I started to disassociate the technology from cryptocurrencies that I really got into blockchain technology and its potential to shape the future.

In particular, I am really interested in real-world use cases and exploring the myriad of legal issues that may come up particularly from an IP or data perspective. I spent a lot of time towards the end of last year writing an academic article for the Interactive Entertainment Law Review Journal on data protection challenges in blockchain technology which was published in June. Later this year, I shall be speaking at convergence, the worldwide blockchain conference in Malaga in November on blockchain and IP.
