Carrie Wootten

Carrie has worked across the creative and broadcast sector over the last twenty five years. She studied Drama and Theatre Studies at University moving onto work in the TV sector.

In 2009 she moved onto become the Head of Commercial Development and Industry Partnerships at Ravensbourne University.

It was whilst working at Ravensbourne that Carrie started to learn more about the broadcast technology sector, as the institution produced technical and engineering talent into the industry. As part of this work she was able to travel to global trade shows in Amsterdam and Las Vegas where it was evident that there was a severe lack of female and diverse talent. It was a result of seeing this first hand, that Carrie decided to develop a mentoring initiative to support women in the sector.

From this initial idea and passion project to a global operation that is supporting hundreds of women, Carrie has developed all its initiatives and programmes of work since its inception and leads on Rises’ strategic direction as a not-for-profit business. Securing support, and critically sponsorship of Rises’ work, has been vital not only to the survival of the company but to its growth and profile across the sector. The organisation is funded by brands such as BT Sport, ITV, Sony, Discovery and many more.
