Isobel Anderson

Isobel Anderson | The Female DIY Musician

Isobel Anderson

Isobel Anderson is a musician, academic and founder of The Female DIY Musician (FDIYM), an online resource helping women learn vital recording and production skills.

In an industry where less than 5% of music producers are women, and female musicians make up just 20% of artists signed to record labels, many women are at an immediate disadvantage. This has, to date, significantly shaped who gets to make and share music, and the voices and stories music audiences get to hear.

With a DIY music career that has garnered Isobel’s self-produced music over 25 Million+ Spotify streams and a PhD in Sonic Arts, for the past few years Isobel has worked hard to empower other women to take ownership of their creative process and career trajectory through skills in music technology. Through her critically acclaimed, Lovie Award shortlisted podcast, Girls Twiddling Knobs, a 1.3K+ strong online community, a trail blazing online course, Home Recording Academy, with over 300 students enrolled, to date, and partnerships with organisations, such as The F List and The Musicians’ Union, Isobel’s and the FDIYM’s mission is to make music tech more inclusive and diverse.
