Catherine Llewellyn-Jones

I graduated with a Masters in Mathematics in 2005 and then trained as a secondary school teacher.

I taught mathematics and music before moving to France to develop my music further whilst teaching English. After moving back to the UK in 2014 I decided to change my career. After some research I decided that a career as an aerospace engineer would be challenging, fun, exciting and offer me good opportunities for the future. I am currently in my 4th year of an Apprenticeship with Airbus. During the Apprenticeship I have been working for Airbus full time, with 2 days per week studying at university and college. My apprenticeship involves a rotation of work placements and so far I have worked in Stress, Fatigue and Damage Tolerance, Finite Element Modelling and Flight Physics (Aerodynamics). I have now completed an NVQ level 2 in Aerospace and Aviation Engineering, an NVQ level 4 in Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing and am in my final year of my degree in Aerospace Engineering with the University of the West of England.
