Christina has spent the past decade raising awareness of the issue of modern slavery. In 2018, she quit her job and spent 15 months volunteering as a Legal Fellow with the International Justice Mission (IJM) in the Philippines fighting against the online sexual exploitation of children. While living in the Philippines, Christina introduced the Shine Curriculum, a personal development tool that helps young women to develop an understanding of their personal worth, strength and purpose, to over sixty survivors of sexual exploitation at two local aftercare shelters. Since returning to the UK, she continues to be a passionate advocate of IJM’s work fighting against modern slavery, exploitation and other forms of violent oppression across the globe. Christina will run her third London Marathon in October 2022 and has fundraised over £14,000 for IJM’s vital work. In recognition of her advocacy efforts, Christina has been nominated for the Human Trafficking Foundation’s Anti-Slavery Day Awards 2021.
