Christine Lester

A former sports events professional from Essex, Christine’s route to a technology career has been anything but traditional!

Inspired to make a complete career 180 after attending several Women Who Code events in London, Christine took up a place on CodeClan’s 16 week intensive software development bootcamp in Glasgow. Immersing herself in learning how to code in multiple different languages was challenging – especially considering that she broke her shoulder mere days before starting the course! – but rewarding, and upon graduating from CodeClan, she was recruited by JP Morgan and settled in to life in their Glasgow office.

Fifteen months into her technology career Christine is a well liked and respected member of her team, on which she is the only female, and she is quickly growing her professional network and becoming recognised for her work across the company.

Since starting with JP Morgan she has become a key member of the CodeClan Alumni – internally acting as a point of contact and leadership for anyone joining JPM from CodeClan, as well as forming Q&A panels, and meeting those already employed by JPM but whom are thinking of taking a place on a CodeClan course.
Christine is also becoming well known in the Glasgow office for her work – not just in her day to day role, but in her community engagement internally and externally and additional activities such as becoming a key member of a team driving an exciting partnership with a local institution.
In addition to this, Christine is a STEM Ambassador and takes her engagement with this role incredibly seriously, finding a real affinity for talking with and hopefully inspiring the next generation of tech talent – especially when it comes to getting more girls into technology.

For someone at the beginning of her career, Christine is making sure strides; determined to blaze a trail for career change technologists and women in technology everywhere.
