I’m Claire, a tech nerd with a particular interest in front-end/web development who enjoys being part of the tech community in Belfast.
I studied Electronics and Software Engineering at university , chosen based on my interest in physics and maths and my love of computers as a teenager. After graduating I started out as a Java developer until discovering my passion for UI and UX. I now work primarily on the UI/front-end of builds, with a focus on performance, responsiveness and usability. I have a particular interest in accessibility and attempt to implement accessibility standards in any builds I can along with sharing these requirements with the rest of the dev and design team wherever I am.
Outside of work I enjoy running local events such as Women Techmakers Belfast and Global Game Jam, being involved with Farset Labs as the community manager, and attending/speaking at various meetups as well as organising the local BelfastJS and Women In Tech Belfast meetups. I had a position on the Global Game Jam Executive Committee for 2017/2018 for organising the 2018 global jam event. I have given talks at various events about accessibility, my role in tech and my experiences as a woman in tech, including the first NI Developer Conference and again at the same event this year. In my spare time I enjoy gaming, reading, and nail art. I enjoy photography, and have been involved in volunteer photography at Q-Con Belfast for the past 6 years and for the 2017 and 2018 NI Game Dev Awards.
