Why invest in your female tech talent?

Despite decades of progress towards workplace equality, women remain hugely under-represented in STEM careers. According to UK organisation, Women in Science and Engineering, just 23% of the individuals working in STEM roles across the UK are female, and only 5% of leadership positions in the technology industry are held by women. Women represent just 16% of the tech industry globally, and that number hasn’t changed over the past five years!

WeAreTechWomen offer a number of products and services that enable companies to attract, develop and retain their female talent, however one of the highlights of our calendar is our Women in Tech conference. Over the past five years, our conference has been a physical event, held in London and attended by over 800 individuals every year. The conference has been sponsored by 50 FTSE firms and has attracted women across all tech disciplines from over 1,000 organisations. In 2020, due to the pandemic, we launched our first ever virtual conference DISRUPT. INNOVATE. LEAD. which was attended by over 1,500 global delegates and supported by companies such as Goldman Sachs, Barclays, PwC, Accenture and several others. The feedback from this event was incredible, with one organisation stating it was the best conference their teams have ever attended. This year, given the continued challenges of the pandemic, we will deliver our second virtual global conference, One Tech World in May.  This year, the conference will be spread across three days.

One Tech World will be the biggest virtual women in tech conference in 2021.

Virtualising our event also introduces a number of benefits, such as the ability to reach a more global audience, triple our content and increase the amount of participants to 5,000 global attendees.

Thanks to our sponsors, all tickets have been subsidised. This ensures that finance is not a barrier to learning for those who want to attend, and also enables organisations to do a little bit more with the budgets they have. At just £70 per ticket, there is no other event that will provide the value or learning opportunities that we are offering through our One Tech World. The platform will also be open for 30 days post conference so delegates can enjoy sessions they may have missed over the three days.  We have also invested in a state of the art virtual networking platform to provide networking opportunities after the conference and within time zones that suit our global audience.

Committed to Inclusion and Diversity

Our speakers have been carefully selected for their experience and diverse backgrounds. It is incredibly important to us that all of our delegates see their own role models on our stages. We have also included a number of sessions at the conference that address known inclusion issues within the tech community, such as social mobility, race and disability.

Committed to helping others

As with all of our events, we are gifting 30% of our tickets to individuals from all genders who have lost their jobs, returning to the industry or studying technology. As part of our global CSR, we are also gifting tickets to women all over the world who are studying tech through NGO’s and charities. To date, we have gifted tickets to women in Sudan, Cambodia, India as well as a number of UK based schools in challenged areas of the UK.
