Following a few stints in the legal industry, Deborah Okenla ventured into startups in 2015 after attending one of Startup Weekends Global Hackathons.
She landed her first job at IncuBus Ventures where she’s played a pivotal role in the launch of their scale-up programme (backed by Market-Tech) working alongside mentors from Facebook, Instagram, 01 Ventures and more.
Since then, Deborah has worked with Capital Enterprise to help launch their investment progamme as well as Data Pitch, a virtual accelerator who’s Tech Innovation Board consists of reputable advisors from Forward Partners, Tech Hub, Tech.eu, Uber and more.
In 2017 Deborah started YSYS; a thriving Slack community made up of 100 + diverse founders, investors, creatives and techies in London. She is passionate about diversity and recently wrote an article highlighting the lack of visibility of black women in tech, catching the attention of Cindy Gallop, Mike Butcher and many others.
Deborah is experienced at launching accelerator programmes and building engaged communities, with a shared mission. She now the Membership Manager at Huckletree West and a #poctech Ambassador at Campus London.
