I am a 17 year old high school student currently undertaking my Advanced Highers. I have been described as a conscientious, hardworking student and I am always keen to undertake extra curricular activities and learn new skills.
I found a real passion for technology after taking part in the Apps for Good course 2014/15 where you learn all the key aspects of new product development, from idea generation, technical feasibility and programming to product design and marketing.
It was during this that Envirocache was born. My team member Mari-Ann Ganson and I worked throughout the year on the app as part of the course. We continued working on the app after the course and have spent the last 3 years developing and shaping it. Envirocache is a mobile app that will encourage children to get outside and take part in nature treasure hunts. It allows children to use technology to become more active, and can be used as an educational tool to help them and their families learn more about the nature that surrounds them.
I have attended Outbox Incubator where I was selected to be an ’Outbox Executive’ on a Europe wide Incubator program comprising of funding, mentoring and support for my startup. During this I learnt about Business Development, Marketing, Product Development & Finance.
I’ve previously been invited to speak at the BETT Show 2016 on how to get an equal balance of genders in STEM subjects, and invited on a panel discussing equality in technology at the Sage Summit 2017.
Alongside working on the Envirocache app I have been studying computing, developing my programming skills and working with Raspberry Pi’s.
