Emma-Jane Connolly

I entered the tech industry in 2017, joining Aquis Exchange as part of their graduate programme where I worked initially in market surveillance gaining an understanding of equities trading as well as the technological underpinnings of exchange matching engines and the big data problem that is regulated market surveillance.

After a little over a year, I was excited to be promoted to the Product and Project Management Team as a Project Manager. This gave me a broader role in which I learnt the in-depth technical aspects of running a regulated stock exchange.

I manage multiple projects ranging from the development of new institutional grade matching engines and API architectures to Brexit solutions. I am currently managing the technical migration of Aquis Stock Exchange (formerly NEX exchange) after Aquis acquired NEX Exchange earlier in the year. This is a complex project requiring in-depth knowledge across all areas of the business from the intricacies of trading functionality to web integration. This role has proved to be fulfilling and well suited to my abilities.

In my day to day role, I manage the software development process. This involves obtaining requirements from stakeholders, producing the quarterly development roadmaps, and running the Sprint ceremonies where functionality is discussed alongside the development and QA teams. In conjunction, I also lead and coordinate the software rollouts across all Aquis’ platforms. This has proved to be particularly challenging during the COVID-19 pandemic when all staff were working remotely however not insurmountable, in June we achieved our first remote rollout.
