WiTT is pleased to announce this year’s summer event: a private tour of the Science Museum’s new Engineers Gallery, followed by networking and drinks in the Museum’s Smith Centre.

Here’s the Science Museum’s description of the exhibition:

“Engineers shape the world that we live in, creating bold, ground-breaking innovations that respond to global challenges and improve billions of lives. But how much do we know about the people behind these innovations?

Human stories are at the heart of the Engineers gallery, where visitors have the opportunity to take a closer look at iconic objects such as the first digital camera, the cutting-edge CMR ‘Versius’ surgical robot arm and a miniature atomic clock that the entire GPS system depended upon, as well as learn more about the remarkable people who invented them.

…The Engineers gallery also celebrates our engineering heritage and showcases innovations through the global lens of the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering—the world’s leading award for engineers – with current and past prize winners featured throughout.”

The gallery features many women who were behind the ground-breaking innovations on display and celebrates their contributions. Lara Suzuki of Google, who spoke at our event on Generative AI, is one of those profiled in the gallery. Timings are tentative, but we expect to gather in the Smith Centre at 6:00 for a 6:30 tour. We’ll then return to the Smith Centre for drinks and networking at approximately 7:15.
