Despite having a degree in History, I’ve somehow found my niche as a technology marketer, with a background that spans B2B and B2C, hardware and software.
Starting my career in global PR agencies including Weber Shandwick and Nelson Bostock, I led on major accounts for brands including Samsung, HTC and Canon Europe. Taking new handset and cameras to market in countries across the world, as well as running consumer-facing momentum campaigns, I quickly developed an interest in technology marketing.
Inspired to broaden my experience, I left agency life to dive head-long into the world of start-ups. At financial technology start-up Monitise (sold last year to Fiserv) – then a business listed on the AIM exchange – I transitioned from a specialism in Communications to Product Marketing.
The experience led me to joining Yieldify – a UK-based marketing technology start-up (Deloitte Fast 50 and Sunday Times Tech Track 100 winner) – as Product Marketing lead in late 2015. Around a year later, I took on leadership of the full Marketing function, rebuilding it from scratch with minimal resource (and even less budget) and turning it into a vital commercial function of the business.
In addition, I take on the role of Chief Eyebrow-Raiser and Bullshit Detector, making sure that there’s at least one person in a start-up who thinks that trade unions are A Good Thing.
