My first job in the tech industry was a year work placement with the BBC R&D department where I learnt the basics of coding and fell in love with computers and the creative tech world.
I chose to study electronic engineering at uni, which while enjoyable wasn’t really what I hoped it would be. I graduated with a degree in a subject that I was no longer passionate about and so taught myself HTML and CSS and started building websites instead.
I am now a front end developer with 6 years experience working in various parts of the tech industry from startups, agencies, charities to large organisations like Ticketmaster/Live Nation.
I recently joined the Samsung Internet developer relations team where I get to use my love of teaching and outreach to work with developers around the world.
Outside of work I am an organiser and coach at codebar.io which teaches underrepresented groups in tech to code. I have also coached at Code your Future, I run an event called www.achievingdiversityin.tech, I mentor multiple junior developers and I run talks and workshops at as many tech events as I can fit in!
