DevOps Engineer

BAE Systems Digital Intelligence has an exciting opportunity for a DevOps Engineer working remotely in a hybrid home working with occasional days in our Guildford office. NetReveal SNA is a global market leading suite of financial services products that detects and investigate unusual behaviour patterns for fraud and is used internationally to detect insurance and banking fraud, money laundering, unauthorised trading and many other scenarios.

The Product Engineering team is looking for someone to be responsible for the application development infrastructure support as well as configure our Cloud infrastructure and help the successful delivery of the next generation of our fraud detection solution which is based on advanced social network analysis (SNA).

NetReveal SNA is an award-winning suite of products designed to detect and investigate unusual behaviour patterns in social networks; and is used internationally to detect insurance and banking fraud, tax evasion, unauthorised trading and many other scenarios.

The NetReveal SNA engineering team is a business unit responsible for building our most leading edge and innovative Financial Crime and Cyber Security products and solutions. As such, this role is also part of the wider FS Engineering organisation and will offer development opportunities in both the technical specialist and management career paths.

You will be working alongside other talented DevOps engineers solving major cloud infrastructure challenges which is essentially a cloud big data platform. You will be taking ownership of two primary goals: to help us meet & exceed infrastructure performance goals and to build and extend the platform in new ways. You will be working with Docker, Ansible/Maven, Fargate and a collection of AWS services.

Skills & Experience

• Good experience maintaining and supporting CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or other alternatives TeamCity, Bamboo, Team City, Gitlab etc or other automation engines
• Experience with any software repository like Git, Bitbucket, SVN
• 2+ years of experience designing and operating distributed systems based on Linux with good CLI skills
• At least 1+ year experience with AWS Cloud technologies
• Having any AWS API knowledge would be optional but highly valued
• Good experience with build automation tool like Maven, Ant
• 1+ year experience with container based technologies ie Docker, AWS EC2 instances
• Experience in setting up and maintaining monitoring using Cloudwatch or Grafana
• Good experience with scripting – Groovy, bash scripting
• Any JavaScript or Java knowledge would be useful
• Good knowledge of network infrastructure design & public cloud architecture
• Previous experience with configuring and troubleshooting infrastructure and improving it
• Self-motivated, able to deliver consistent results through problem solving
• Autonomous, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
• Experience working in an Agile environment and supporting multiple development teams.

• Collaborate with other technical teams across multiple disciplines to establish and meet security, resiliency and performance requirements.
• Design and operate mission critical infrastructure for a global financial product used by leading financial organisations.
• Work to create and distribute best practices with a continuous improvement mind set and culture
• Continuously evaluate the development team’s workflow and contribute to its improvement and automation.
• Be part of our Agile team practice to improve our software delivery and it’s life cycle.
