Java Developer – Hybrid Working – Leeds Engineering Centre Full Time

We have opportunities for Java engineers at a variety of experience levels using a variety of tools and frameworks including SpringBoot.. Our developers are responsible for delivering cutting-edge, optimised, high quality solutions that perform superbly. You will work in Agile teams and have a voice in the direction of software engineering and design. You will work on projects that have a genuine impact on the security and prosperity of the UK.

We want you to be more than a developer. All our team members are challenged to use their expertise, experience, insight and desire to collaborate in order to clearly communicate technical information, functionality, and limitations to non-technical audiences, whilst influencing the overall implementation.

This role will require you to have Security Clearance, or be willing to go through it.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience in Java Development using a variety of tools, frameworks, Technology moves quickly and we want people who do too.
• Good understanding of source control and continuous delivery/integration pipelines
• familiarity with unit testing and mocking libraries

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Software development and optimisation
• Conducting reviews of supplied requirements and specifications.
• Providing accurate estimates.
• Reviewing design and code outputs from colleagues
• Shared responsibilityfor engineering best practice within the team

What you will learn

• We will help you keep up to date with the latest cutting-edge tools and new technologies, although in some cases you’ll be the one helping us!
• Software Development in Javascript and Web technologies, infact if you’re inclined to do so, we also use Java, C++, Scala, SQL and NOSQL Databases, NodeJS, React, Angular, Azure, AWS…. Really the list of technologies that we use is endless.
• Some of you will get involved with extending and improving Open Source Software, for others Database technologies; ultimately you’ll learn how to flex your skillset to a variety of projects
• Want to try a new field or technology? You will have access to hundreds of projects that are on-going within UK Government. We actively support role rotations, so you can continue to learn and develop your career on new projects
