The Opportunity

Agile and creative risk management will be needed if the firm is to successfully navigate the challenges it will face. Central to this will be the role of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team in EY’s Risk Management (RM) function. This is a team of risk professionals of around 20 people based mainly in the UK and with some roles in India.

This is a key Risk Analyst role within the ERM team that is responsible for managing the risk framework, risk strategy and the identification and assessment of risks and controls across the firm. The ERM team works closely with senior risk stakeholders in the EY business at a time when Risk Management has never been more in focus.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the development and ongoing maintenance of the ERM framework, the documented policies, structures, processes, methodology, tools, and taxonomy.
• Analysing and understanding risks across EY UK and supporting the reporting of risk exposure to governance committees
• Close collaboration with client-facing staff in the EY business (Service Lines) and support functions in line with the Firm’s 3 Lines of Defence risk management model.
• Analysing data sets relating to risk management for example on Key Risk Indicators – analysing different dimensions of data, usually in Excel
• Preparing high quality commentary to support risk reporting
• Preparing and monitoring project plans for workstreams and projects being undertaken by the ERM team and ensuring they are aligned both internally and with the requirements of our various stakeholders,
• Deputising for ERM Managers where appropriate.
• Supporting development of communications and training for the use of the risk framework and Business Risk Profile (“BRP”) system that supports it.
• Establishing productive working relationships with Risk professionals within the ERM team, wider Risk Management team and the business

To qualify for the role you must have

• An understanding of risk frameworks and a risk function’s role in the organisation
• Strong personal communication skills, capable of dealing with a wide range of people.
• Ability to deal with problems in a practical and common-sense way, proactively applying judgment when required.
• Excellent analytical skills
• High quality written communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Excel to an intermediate standard and the ability to manage high volumes of data (e.g. PivotTables and charts)
• High standard of proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and a proven ability to produce slides of a high standard.
• Proven track record in building relationships with senior business stakeholders
• Planning and organisational skills to create implementation approaches and plans including supporting prioritising key areas of responsibility, tasks and projects.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Experience in a risk management function on implementing and maintaining risk frameworks
• Experience of risk reporting
• Experience of working in a global organisation
• Knowledge of professional services firms, of the typical range of businesses operated and an understanding of the business model and commercial considerations
