Location: New York City, London UK, or remote in the US or UK

At the moment, we are all working remotely. However, we have offices in London and New York, and this position can be based in either office or remote in the US or UK (subject to your existing legal right to work in either jurisdiction).

About the Role

OpenFin is building the operating platform for the the world’s biggest financial institutions. The Product team at is working to transformatively improve the developer experience of OpenFin products, making it much easier for developers working for our customers and partners to get started and do what they need to. Technical information, including documentation and example code, is a crucial part of that experience. We’re looking for a talented writer who can understand our technology and help ensure customer success through clear communication in multiple channels including documentation, white papers, blogs, and marketing collateral.

As a Contract Technical Writer at OpenFin, you will:

• Work with team members to create, edit, and produce accurate and effective technical documentation that enhances the developer experience by providing just the information developers need, when they need it.
• Collaborate across the organization, including with product management, engineering, sales, and support, to understand audiences’ needs for information, to develop information deliverables to address those needs, and to ensure the accuracy of the content.
• Communicate with stakeholders regarding prioritization and progress of documentation projects.
• Write conceptual guides and use-case-based recipes for using APIs.
• Find ways to make complex concepts clear and meaningful for developers in our audiences.
• Maintain, and improve legacy documentation.
• Contribute your expertise to recommend and help implement enhancements to documentation infrastructure, standards, and processes.

What We’re Looking For

• Five or more years of experience in technical writing for developer audiences.
• A writing portfolio that shows off your strong technical writing skills through developer-focused samples.
• Experience using a plain-text markup language such as Markdown, Asciidoc, or ReST.
• Must be an excellent communicator with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, detail oriented and hands on.
• A problem solver who is willing to challenge themselves and others to think outside of the box.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using OpenFin products or creating projects in an OpenFin environment.
• Experience with JavaScript, .NET or Java programming.
• More than one year of working on a distributed team.
