Kayleigh Ridd

I am a Senior Front End Developer at Zone, working as part of multi-disciplinary scrum teams to create transformative digital solutions.

My career as a developer has been really varied – I’ve worked with multiple coding languages and frameworks, in a range of sectors. But I believe that a developer’s worth amounts to more than just lines of code written and I work hard to empower my teams to recognise the unique contributions they make that amount to much more than code alone.

I work with the Tech Women network within Zone to raise our profile, make us more visible within teams and promote equality and inclusion. I run workshops about challenging gender modesty norms and bias that can create barriers to promotion for under-represented groups and I mentor as part of our apprentice scheme to help others get started in tech.

I am amazed at the capacity technology has to impact people’s lives and I’m really proud to have been able to harness my technical experience to create products that make meaningful change – from creating tools to help understand maternity benefits for the Equality and Human Rights Commission, to working with Genomics England to create digital solutions to ordering genomic tests for rare diseases and cancer.
