Kirsty McCann

I joined BAE Systems in 2012 after finishing secondary school, where I undertook an Engineering Technician Advanced Apprenticeship.

After completing placements around the Business building up my experience, I joined the Flight Test Engineering department. There, I had the opportunity to see and be involved in the trialling of new technology on the ground and in the air. Most notably, I spent time working in the air developing autonomous technology on the Jetstream test bed; more information can be found at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/technology-38308108/developing-an-aeroplane-that-can-fly-itself.

Throughout my employment, I continued my education on a part-time basis, completing a HNC and HND in Aeronautical Engineering. I am now in my final year of studying part-time for BEng(Hons) Computer Aided Engineering alongside my day job.

My current role is within the Electronic Warfare (EW) Solutions team, developing and delivering training packages for a variety of customers. Not only am I educating our customers on the use of EW technology and tools, I am striving to incorporate the new technologies available to us to replace standard presentations with much more interactive and up-to-date methods that enhance their learning experience.
