The allure of studying telecommunications emerged when, as a teenager, I crossed paths with a person from the United States during a summer in Spain. The realization that we could effortlessly communicate across continents, bridging the gap between us even during distant winters, captivated me. This encounter ignited a fascination with the power of technology to connect people, and it became the catalyst for my decision to pursue telecommunications as a field of study at Technical University of Cartagena, Spain, in 2014. During the last year of my B.Eng. degree, I was awarded an Erasmus scholarship to work on my final project at Heriot-Watt University – that was the first time I came to the UK, and I had such an amazing experience that I decided to work towards my PhD at Heriot-Watt afterwards. As part of my PhD, I had the opportunity to work closely with Space Engineering (SPEN), now part of the world leading Airbus Defence and Space company, and MBI Srl, both companies located in Italy. Apart from helping me learn Italian, collaborating with professionals in different organizations exposed me to the dynamic and fast-paced nature of the industry, sparking a desire to contribute my skills and knowledge in a more practical setting. That experience motivated me to transition from academia to the industry.

I firstly joined MathWorks, where I worked as a software engineer in the Wireless Standards department. At MathWorks, I contributed to the physical layer implementation and RF testing of wireless standards such as 5G and LTE. Since September 2022, I have been working as a software engineer at Microsoft. I currently work for the Azure private multi-access edge compute (MEC) product, which enables users to easily deploy secure and private networks, applications, and services at the enterprise edge.

Apart from my technical contribution, I strive to make a positive impact within Microsoft by organizing professional development seminars, engaging in volunteering projects, facilitating knowledge-sharing events, and promoting diversity and inclusion. These endeavours not only contribute to my personal and professional growth but also enhance teamwork, collaboration, and employee satisfaction. I am proud to be a part of an organization that values and supports such initiatives.
