Maya Kolaska

In the summer after completing the first year of my degree, I secured my first job in Technology working for Tesco Dotcom, aged 19. I undertook a Data Analyst role investigating two years of data relating to IT project improvements as a result of implementing an Agile way of working.

I returned to Tesco Dotcom a year later where I first gained experience as a Business Analyst. I was part of a team gathering requirements for development of a new e-commerce website and received excellent feedback for my stakeholder management skills and high quality of work.

I first joined BAE Systems as an intern in 2014, after graduating from the University of Nottingham with a 1st in Natural Sciences (Mathematics & Chemistry) MSci. I undertook a 3 month project to streamline the process to create more flexible product demonstrations for any existing or potential clients. I developed and executed a plan which involved gaining a full understanding of the technical limitations, gaining stakeholder buy-in and producing a business proposal.

Since re-joining the company as a Graduate in 2015, I have undertaken a variety of roles including Business Consulting, Project Management and Business Analysis.

Since the successful completion of my first project, leading the Business Analyst work for an internal knowledge sharing tool, I have spent the majority of my time working within our Government client group. This has involved leading and delivering significant areas of work as part of complex, cross-government IT change programmes.

In addition to my project work, I have been one of the key leaders within our gender diversity network since it’s inception. I was also the Lead of the Graduate Innovation team and have led a piece of work looking to improve knowledge sharing within the Business Analysis community.
