Having graduated top of my degree in Civil Engineering, I had a change of heart about where I wanted my career to take me.

After spending a couple of years travelling, I returned to the UK to pursue a career in Software Engineering, because I knew it would provide me with the perfect combination of technical and creative challenges.

I decided to retrain and commit to an intensive coding bootcamp and whilst there, I was asked to stay and lecture. I co-founded the ‘Women in Northcoders’ network, helping organise various events and found my passion for diversity in tech.

After a rewarding year of teaching, deepening my own knowledge and mentoring other people into their first developer jobs, it was my time to take the leap into my first Software Engineering role with BJSS.

Within the first few weeks, I knew my decision to pursue a career in tech had been one of the best decisions of my life and that I was in the right place, doing the right thing, with the right people!

During my 2 years so far at BJSS, I have had the opportunity to work on some really interesting projects as part of some incredible teams. I have developed so many new skills, learned new languages and frameworks and been able to share my knowledge to help others learn new things too. I have delved into areas of tech I never even knew existed and found my true interests in UI and Accessibility.

Recently, I have been asked to take on the role of Cell Lead and so will be embarking on my first leadership position within BJSS. I wouldn’t change my job for the world and look forward to the challenges it brings!
