Akua has been a driving force in diversity and inclusion, internally at LSEG and within Technology highlighting the need for diversity in STEM. Since March 2020 and with the introduction of the first national lockdown in our lifetimes, she led a team and strived to ensure over 300+ colleagues with sufficient equipment to work remotely.
She holds active membership in following networks: BEING, Ability (Resource Lead), WIN (Community Lead), Wellbeing (Mental Health Champion). Also, mentors’ interns and graduates at LSEG to foster career development.
As Community lead, she became a business sponsor for Skills builder and Unicef charity champion. She continues to drive charity and volunteering initiatives across the LSEG group plus raised money for charities affected by Covid.
Akua has been participated in internal and external mentoring with both City Hive and Like-Minded Females (LMF) mentoring scheme to help drive change in gender equality.
At LSEG, she participated in Reverse Mentoring, coaching for black employees, unconscious bias training, organised a training session with Show Racism the red card and highlighted intersectionality across the business.
Lastly, through the Ability Network at LSEG, she has worked closely with the Change Ambassador Network to ensure LSEG provide Accessibility tools and training content for Neurodivergent staff.
Akua is a fundraiser, charity volunteer and a keen sports volunteer for Netball England and British Athletics.
