Apinya Medina

Apinya is currently a Director at Credit Suisse, leading a small teams of DevOps architects and engineers in one of the firm’s largest IT departments called FSG Technology. Her job is to create strategy and drive the execution of DevOps for a department of around 2,500 people. On a day-to-day basis, Apinya leads many automation and tooling initiatives, provides coaching for teams and promotes a culture of continuous improvement which is the key to sustainable DevOps. She is a proud mother of one 10 year old boy and has been living in London for the last 20 years.

Growing up in a family of engineers, Apinya’s background is deep-rooted in technology. Combining technology with her love of problem solving, she decided to study Electrical Engineering in her home country, Thailand, followed by two MSc degrees in Telecommunication Engineering at University of Surrey (UK) and Ecommerce Engineering at Queen’s Mary University of London.

Apinya’s first job was a technical support and site engineer for a payment system software provider. After two years, she was ready for a bigger challenge and joined Credit Suisse in 2005 as a Software Engineer in Market Risk Technology. During Apinya’s 15-year tenure at Credit Suisse, she has enjoyed and seized the opportunity to grow her career by taking on distinctly different roles from Java Developer, Oracle Database Engineer, Test Environment Service Team Lead and Testing Automation Team Lead. Such rich and varied hands-on experiences have given her not only the in-depth knowledge in all aspects of software development but also an understanding of end-to-end delivery in an enterprise. This interest in enterprise delivery led Apinya to her current role as a DevOps Architect leading a global multi-year DevOps transformation program.
