Kaijia Gu | Partner, Oliver Wyman

Kaijia, who joined Oliver Wyman in 2005, has long been drawn to industries undergoing disruption.

She worked with publishing companies when digitization was transforming how we consume news and content, and with hardware companies when software-as-a-service (SaaS) began to deplete their market share.

One of the sectors Kaijia has expertise in is insurance. Businesses here are arguably some of the most tradition-bound in financial services, but this has to change. Machine learning is reshaping the industry and new technology, such as autonomous cars and hire-share platforms, is transforming the nature of risk. Kaijia ensures the pricing, sales, and revenue models for insurers are agile enough to rapidly adapt to these and other future, unknown, challenges.

In her spare time, Kaijia enjoys running, rock climbing, skiing, and anything that takes her outdoors. She recently finished the Paris Marathon and her first ultra marathon – a 50km race along the River Thames. As a new mother, she’s developing a brand new toolkit for problem solving and is finding it the most enjoyable and rewarding yet.
