Karen Elliott is an Associate Professor in Fintech at Newcastle University Business School, named as ‘Standout #35 Women in FinTech Powerlist by Innovate Finance’. Karen co-leads FinTrust and Agency (£1.2m/£3.5m EPSRC Projects) with Prof van Moorsel in collaboration with Atom Bank, to optimise trustworthy and ethical AI, engineered to deliver consumer transparency and to reduce online harms. Likewise, co-leads Finclusion, exploring verifiable credentials for vulnerable groups (Gates Foundation/Turing Institute). A member of the Prime Minister’s Challenge Group for Dementia, Corporate Digital Responsibility, and Ambassador for the Digital Poverty Alliance, Karen examines a fusion of ethical considerations at the individual and societal level, seeking to find balance for an equitable digital society.
