Portia Bowman | UK Innovation Manager, D-Orbit
Portia is a Space Systems Engineer by training and is currently UK Innovation Manager at D-Orbit. She is responsible for new product and service ideas to implement on top of D-Orbit’s existing InOrbitNow service of delivering customers satellites into orbit. In the past she has worked on projects ranging from ExoMars, the European Space Agency mission to land a Rover on Mars, the Cygnus Cargo Module – refuelling the International Space Station, and the EarthCARE programme – a climate monitoring satellite that will improve climate models.
In 2015 she co-founded SpaceCareers.uk, a website focussed on providing resources for students and graduates looking for a career in the space sector. The website has over a million views and has supported hundreds of students to find their first job in the sector. She graduated from the University of Leicester with a Physics with Astrophysics BSc(2013) and a Space Exploration Systems MSc (2014).
