Sandie Small

Sandie Small is the Head of Digital Services at the Bank of England.  Sandie is a  C level  leader of  a division of subject matter experts to ensure the smooth operation of the Bank of England’s technology estate.

She holds leadership roles in many of the Bank’s major technology transformation programs. Most notably she is supporting Service Readiness and Introduction for the new Real Time Gross Settlement Service, part of the United Kingdom’s Critical National Infrastructure, sits at the heart of the economy and settling over  £750 billion of sterling transactions every day. She is also responsible for the Bank’s Data Centres, and pivotal to the Programme to replace current facilities and migrate all applications into a cutting-edge new home.

Prior to joining the Bank, Sandie held technology leadership roles at Thomson Reuters, MF Global, Aviva Investors, and HSBC. Sandie offer a unique perspective having started her career as an entry level technician and developed a broad understanding of technology, people and managing cultural change. Sandie’s expertise and experience has made her a recognised subject matter expert in organisational transformation and complex technical deliveries. Sandie believes firmly in the strength of a network, and in leveraging and building connections to help others reach their full potential.

Alongside Sandie’s day job she is trained Executive Coach and an established public speaker, passionate about sharing her career story, knowledge, and advice to encourage and enthuse a more diverse pipeline of future technology talent. Sandie has won numerous awards and was recently named one of Women in Tech’s TechWomen100.
