Sandie Small

Sandie Small has led the Bank of England’s Operations Command Centre since October 2018.  Accountable for the smooth operation of the Bank’s Data Centres, Sandie and her team help protect the Critical National Infrastructure which support key systems and applications. She also has a critical role within several of the Bank’s major technology transformation programs, most notably the replacement of the iconic Real Time Gross Settlement service which settles over £650bn sterling payments every day, and the migration of the Bank’s data centres into cutting-edge fit for the future facilities.

Sandie has previous held technology roles at Readers Digest, Thomson Reuters, MF Global, Aviva Investors, and HSBC.

Sandie offers  a unique perspective on the industry, having developer her career from an entry level technician and developed a broad understanding of technology, people and managing cultural change. Her expertise and experience has made her a recognised subject matter expert in organisational transformation and complex technical deliveries.

She has always believed in the strength of a network, leveraging and building her connections to help others reach their full potential. Alongside her day job Sandie is currently training to be an Executive Coach. Sandie is a keen public speaker, passionate about sharing her career story, knowledge and advice to encourage and enthuse a more diverse pipeline of future technology talent.

She is a proud mother and dedicated Aunty to many and in her spare times, enjoys spending time with her family.
