Rachael took a unique route into entering the games industry. At university, she qualified as a professional architect and particularly focused on the research into the design, development, and application of user-centred technologies that allow the context of architecture to be translated into a digital environment – integrated into a fully resolved building design and construction in the context of Tokyo.
After graduating, she joined Sony Interactive Entertainment and worked in a large global team to investigate the integrity of upcoming titles for Playstation. After working on some fantastic AAA titles, she soon joined Ripstone Games as a producer. There, she was responsible for delivering games to market across all platforms as part of a digital publisher, which included working on the development and approval process of products from initial concept design oracquisition, through to final commercial release. This included the design and maintenance of project scheduling and defining the development path of the game, whilst also taking an active role in the creative design decisions that centred around the game. In addition, she was also responsible for the sourcing, procurement and acquisition of new titles for the company’s game slate.
Recently, she joined the team at Roll7 – a BAFTA award winning games studio responsible for hit games such as OlliOlli and NOT A HERO. Here, she is responsible forproducing their upcoming game – Laser League – for commercial release on PC, Playstation and Xbox across digital storefronts in 2018.
Rachael was awarded a Develop 30 under 30 award in 2016, and has also been selected as a BAFTA Crew Games member. She currently sits on the board for the Women inGames organisation – and acts as an ambassador and mentor for women looking to enter the video games industry.
