Having graduated with a degree in Chemistry with Medicinal chemistry in 2017 from the University of St Andrews, I joined Grayce as a data analyst on their graduate development programme.

My first role was within an advanced analytics team at a global pharmaceutical company, where I used my degree knowledge to support a range of exciting data science projects utilizing medical datasets. It was through this role I developed an interest in python and I decided to undertake a short course through the Google Digital Garage, and then a front end development course with Code First Girls. I continued to pursue a career in software development, undertaking additional classes and attending community tech groups in Manchester, alongside my continued work as a junior project manager and scrum master on a global reporting project.

To improve my technical experience, I moved to a new client, a leading retail bank, where I took on the role of a database and reporting analyst in the enterprise portfolio management office. I was offered my next position as a Junior Software Developer on the Online Banking Scrum Team thanks to a referral from manager, based on the wide range of development activities I was undertaking inside and outside of work. This role was unfortunately only 10 Months long as in June 2020 I was furloughed.

I then joined the Grayce Head Office team and used my personal experience working in software development and volunteering as a coach to build, launch, and deliver new data and technology training programmes that have helped approximately 100 new professionals establish their careers in data and technology. I’m passionate about technology and staying up to date with the latest innovations, so I’ve undertaken my development roles alongside delivering internal IT transformation goals and technically upskilling the wider business so that everyone can feel empowered talking about tech.
