Scientista Women in STEM

The Scientista Foundation is the largest network of college and graduate women innovating science, technology, engineering, and medicine (STEM).

Scientista works with student leaders to increase the number of women studying and pursuing careers in STEM by 1) increasing the visibility of women in STEM and by 2) strengthening communities for women in STEM.

The Scientista Foundation serves as an umbrella organisation for existing women in science organisations, who join our network by becoming a campus affiliate. Scientista also creates new campus communities where none exist through our Scientista Campus Chapter program.

There are many life-changing events along our career paths. We explore employment rights and practical guidance to assist during those times. Considering how you can approach your employer for support and/or support employees.

Life events such as menopause, fertility treatment, miscarriage and relationship breakdown can impact welfare in and out of the workplace. We discuss how flexible working and workplace policies can assist. Mental awareness, well-being and having support is vital at various stages of our life and often we as women suffer in silence.

We want to open the discussion to the events that do impact us, how we can best support each other, how we can approach our employer and ensure that welfare is considered in the workplace.

Event Details

We have been hosting our women in tech conference for over six years. In fact, we have welcomed over 5,000 diverse women through our doors since 2015.

We are not a large media company, we are a passionate organisation that has been championing women in tech for the past 13 years. To us, it’s personal. 21% of women in the industry is just not enough, it needs to change. For this change to happen, it starts by showing existing women in the industry and those who want to transition in, what that world of future tech really looks like. It also involves encouraging women from all backgrounds to consider tech careers, so that we can build products and systems that are truly inclusive. Our conference will not solve these problems overnight, or even scratch the surface on the journey we need to go on for gender parity in the industry, however it will provide an opportunity for attending to learn about what is innovating and disrupting the industry globally. This will enable them to have a broader understanding of the tech landscape and to think about how they adapt their skill sets and grow their networks for the future.

This year, we are going to be bringing you the very best global virtual learning experience on a state-of-the-art conferencing platform. Our conference will provide ample opportunities to learn about emerging technologies and what is innovating and disrupting the industry. We are blessed to be given time from some of the world’s finest speakers who will be joining us to share their wisdom and knowledge. We will deliver innovative sessions on a variety of different areas of tech, with a side order of career development, fireside chats and ample networking opportunities, both on the day and through our global virtual networking world.

Each year, we work with our 24,000+ women in tech community at WeAreTechWomen to identify what tech innovations and topics they would like us to cover as part of our annual conference. We build our agenda around that feedback – giving our community what they want, to not just accelerate their careers, but to understand about the wider world of tech, and how this will affect the future world of work.

We hope you will join us for what will no doubt be one of the most exciting events for women in tech.
