Nicole Lee

Nicole graduated with a degree in Mechanical and Materials Engineering from the University of Birmingham, where she spent three years on the committee of BUMS (Birmingham University Materials Society), in various roles including co-chair and careers representative.

In 2018, Nicole began her career as an engineering consultant in the Numerical Modelling group at Frazer-Nash Consultancy. Her work spans the nuclear and energy generation sectors, and focuses on using numerical models to interpret physical systems for crucial performance and safety analyses. Since picking up new skills in data science, she has made significant contributions to enable the return to service of a nuclear power station.

Outside of work, Nicole actively advocates for STEM careers, and is particularly passionate about STEM outreach and addressing the gender disparity in engineering (see https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/university/colleges/eps/eps-community/alumni-profiles-new/metallurgy-materials/nicole-lee.aspx). Nicole is also a member of the Ethnic Minorities in Materials, Minerals and Mining (EMM3) group for the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, where she works to promote the equality of ethnic minorities, and to champion diversity and inclusion within the IOM3 communities.
