Jo Tooze-Acland

Josephine (Jo) was born and raised in Kent, was a member of the Air Training Corps and from the age of four she had a desire to join the Royal Air Force (RAF) succeeding in 2005.

She has also always been fascinated with rocks and geology.

Jo spent the first 9 years of her career enlisted as a Movements Controller in the RAF, serving multiple tours, both domestic and overseas. During this time, she also studied Natural Sciences at the Open University, represented the RAF at several disciplines of Canoeing and arranged events for charity at many of her postings.

Upon leaving the RAF, she enrolled at the University of Bristol to study a BSc (Hons) degree in Geology due to her love of rocks and all things Planet Earth. After graduation it was Jo's desire to work within the mining industry, however the timing was not ideal due to a downturn in the industry. This then led to her to rethinking her career aspirations and she decided to focus on Project Management, an area where Jo had been developing her skills while serving.

Jo enrolled on the FDM Group Ex Armed Forces course which included Prince 2, ITIL and Scrum training which is where her career began moving into the IT industry. Following this she spent time working as a Scrum Master at Companies House, a role which she increasingly enjoyed.

Jo really enjoys the Scrum Master role and currently works at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, a fantastic and incredibly supportive company to work for. Jo currently works with multiple Agile teams in interesting and challenging environments where she has been involved in introducing new team structures as well as changing the landscape of existing ones. Jo especially enjoys mentoring, coaching and teaching teams to enable them to become their very best – there is nothing more rewarding than seeing teams achieve their full potential.
