Growing up in a small town in rural India, I never dared to imagine the possibility of 'Me' that exists today.

Its often people that come from the smallest of places that have the biggest of dreams. I have always loved Technology. As a young girl, Internet was magic to me and I wanted to be the magician.

My decade long career in Networking and Infrastructure spans across three continents and countries- India, US and the UK. Along with acquiring a Master's degree in Networked Systems from University of California, Irvine, I have worked for multiple organizations of varying sizes and shapes to deliver the best Infrastructure for their IT services. Organically I ventured into Cloud infrastructure. I have designed and built the IT Infrastructure for many services and applications ranging from a million-hits-per-second websites at Microsoft to Pharma and Drug Industry applications to Logistics Warehouse Management Solutions. Seeing the big picture and architecting the right solution for a customer has been my focus. I am passionate about the Cloud because of how it has made technology accessible to every part of the world and quite literally changed the way we live.

A career in Technology changed my life in ways I never imagined. It afforded me the financial independence and Global agility that enabled me to live my best life. I want more women to be able to say that. This is what motivates me to be a voice for Women in Tech. Besides being a very vocal advocate for women in tech, I am a STEM Ambassador, a member of DigiGirlz and I am seeking a role on the board for Women @ Microsoft Platform, all of which aim to inspire young girls to get into STEM fields. UK is predicted to have 3 million jobs by 2025 in STEM and this is a wonderful opportunity for young women to turn this statistic in their favour. I was a mentor to a group of young undergrad students from BAME backgrounds at Microsoft to give them an insight into a career here and also to encourage the interest in Technology. I have given talks at schools in the UK, US and India to young children to inspire them to be a part of this field. I am actively participating in the initiatives of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Diversity and Inclusion in STEM led by MP Chi Onwurah. I am also a member of Scientists for Labour. It is important to address the problem of gender diversity at grassroots which is why I reached out to the MPs so we can all be a part of the solution.

Growing up in a small town in rural India, I never dared to imagine the possibility of 'Me' that exists today.

Its often people that come from the smallest of places that have the biggest of dreams. I have always loved Technology. As a young girl, Internet was magic to me and I wanted to be the magician. I have had a career in Networking and Infrastructure spanning a decade across three continents and countries- India, US and the UK. After I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Information Science in India, I worked for the Networking Giant Cisco as a Network Engineer troubleshooting issues within the Data centres. I will always remember the first time I walked into a data centre, a maze and mesh of devices that make the internet happen. This is where my foundation in Networks and Server Infrastructure was laid.

Due to personal struggles and financial debt in the family, at 22, with 800$ that I loaned from a cousin, I took a giant leap of faith and moved to the US in pursuit of the American dream. Along with acquiring a Master's degree in Networked Systems from University of California, Irvine, I have worked for multiple organizations of varying sizes and shapes to deliver the best Infrastructure for their IT services. Organically, I ventured into the Cloud Industry with the goal of delivering the best Cloud architecture and Customer experience. At Microsoft, I manage the customer experience on Azure for top Azure Customers.

I have had a fantastic decade and a career in this industry has given me the freedom to live life on my own terms.
