My career journey so far has been brilliantly fulfilling. It began when I studied Game and Interactive Media Design at Ulster University, where my passion for tech and problem-solving flourished.
After graduating, I initially struggled to find a developer role, but I refused to let that deter me. It was ecommerce agency Underwaterpistol that first gave me a chance to showcase my determination and hone my skills as a developer. Over the next 12 years (with two maternity leave breaks), I worked on exciting ecommerce website builds and crafted solutions for the niche technical challenges our clients were facing. Working with a passionate team of devs, designers and digital marketers, we constantly exceeded expectations by chasing innovation and thinking outside of the box. The more I immersed myself in the tech world, the more my skills and confidence grew.
My dedication to finding solutions for our clients led to an exciting new opportunity. Earlier this year, I was promoted to Technical Delivery Manager, a role which perfectly aligns with my passion for bridging the gap between intricate development processes and client services. In this role, I’m entrusted with translating complex technical concepts into a language that clients can understand, ensuring effective communication and successful project outcomes. It’s a role that allows me to leverage both my technical expertise and my interpersonal skills to provide the best solutions for our clients.
Outside of work, I also run my own business. Day Dot Journals is dedicated to providing thoughtfully designed journals and planners that help people find some calm through organisation, celebrate accomplishments and express gratitude for the things that make them happy. I started this business to put the ecommerce skills I’ve learnt through my work to the test, and to make a positive impact on people’s lives beyond the world of tech. Day Dot Journals has helped me channel my creativity and pursue my entrepreneurial aspirations, giving me a new perspective on balancing my professional pursuits with my personal interests.
Throughout my career, I’ve always been passionate about pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in technology. The tech industry is constantly evolving, and I thrive on embracing new challenges and opportunities for growth. It’s not always easy, and I definitely have moments of self-doubt, but I’ve learned that with perseverance and dedication, anything is possible. I’m grateful for the support of my colleagues and clients, who have recognised and celebrated my skills and contributions.
