WeAreTechWomen in partnership with its allies Trans*Code, Capgemini UK, Gay Women’s Network (GWN) and Makers Academy, recently held an all-day hackathon to mark International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV).
Friday 31 March was International Transgender Day of Visibility, which aims to celebrate transgender people and to raise awareness of the discrimination faced by the transgender community worldwide.
Participants from all skills levels were invited to join us for a topic focused hackday, hosted at Capgemini UK’s offices in central London.
Open to all trans and non-binary individuals, allies, coders, designers and visionaries of all sorts, the hackday focused on the needs of the transgender community.
Participants were welcomed from any background and skills levels, to work together to create prototypes around the themes of transgender issues and access to technology.
The event was supported by tech mentors from Oliver Wyman, Capgemini UK, GWN, Makers Academy, Aviva and FDM Group. Hosted in Capgemini UK’s Applied Innovation Exchange (AIE) the day of hacking ended with brief presentations from all projects.
