From an early age, I was driven by a passion for teaching and nurturing young minds. Following the completion of my BSc, I embarked on a PGCE in 2008, with the intention of becoming a secondary school teacher but due to personal circumstances, was unable to complete the programme. Forced to explore other career pathways, I spent several years working in Facilities and HR for a charitable organisation.

I therefore embarked on my analytical journey later than most of my peers. Obtaining an MSc in Statistics in 2014 was a pivotal moment that opened doors to the world of data. Joining Bupa’s Healthcare Analytics department, I participated in the pilot graduate scheme where I worked across several teams, and began coding in the statistical software suite, SAS. Within Consumer Risk and Care Management, my work focussed on providing analytics support for the approval, design, development and improvement of care management initiatives, within the Oncology and Cardiology condition areas. This work included the development of a bespoke predictive model to identify high-risk members.

Notably, within just 18 months, I took on the role of interim Analytics Manager for this team and was invited to speak at the Preventing Overdiagnosis Conference in Barcelona in 2016, where I shared insights into our innovative complex care management strategies. Transitioning to Business Analyst with the Operations team, I contributed to the evaluation of our corporate value add programmes and facilitated the effective migration of complex Excel consultant profiling reports into Tableau, enabling self-service across the business. Passionate about knowledge sharing, I seized opportunities to up-skill my colleagues by providing training in SAS and leading basic training in statistical programming, using R.

In 2018, my distinctive blend of teaching and analytics experience led me to join KPMG as a Senior Associate within the Strategic Modelling and Analytics team. With half of my role dedicated to learning and development, I designed and delivered analytical and technical training programmes. These comprehensive trainings were offered company-wide, focusing on core analytics competencies and proficiency in Tableau.

During the pandemic, I took a sabbatical to pursue my childhood dream and trained as a pastry chef. Since 2022, I have been working as a Senior Consultant within Data and Analytics. Engaged primarily in government and public service projects, including collaborations with the NHS, I continually strive to leverage my experience to drive positive change through data-driven decision making.
