Women in Games WIGJ is a not for profit organisation that works to recruit more women into the games industry and to support those already in the industry.

It also campaigns to ensure individuals and businesses understand that a more diverse workforce leads to greater productivity and financial success.

Women in Games WIGJ was founded in 2009 as Women in Games Jobs and incorporated as a “not for profit” or Community Interest Company in 2011. The organisation is called Women in Games, but our legal name is Women in Games WIGJ – without any brackets, which mean Women in Games can be abbreviated to WIGJ. The organisation is no longer called Women in Games Jobs.

About the Series

IFT’s Conversations with Industry series was launched in 2019 to bring real-world examples of digital finance innovation and creativity to a classroom setting. These sessions are hosted by IFT’s Industrial Director Paola Bergamaschi-Broyd.

Conversations are open to the general public to attend, particularly to those who have a background or an interest in finance and technology. All conversations are followed by an opportunity for audience Q&A and an informal drinks and networking reception at the venue.

Event Details

Ada Lovelace, a 19th century mathematics and computer science pioneer, is celebrated globally as a role model for women in STEM. In March 2022, a statue of Ada Lovelace was installed in the City of Westminster.

To celebrate the legacy and impact of Ada Lovelace, the Kindness Studio is hosting art and AI activities involving a community of artists and scientists to celebrate her legacy on 13 March 2023 at Somerset House in London. To make this event as accessible as possible, the University of Warwick and The Alan Turing Institute can support travel to/from the event when it takes place. Register below to secure your ticket and receive support with your travel.

Please join us to make connections and create further reaching and foundational networks in our Research and Turing community. This will be a day of celebrating Ada Lovelace and to realise the broader applications and importance of Data Science and AI, including in history and art, and for reaching further into public engagement.

The day will involve presentations on Ada Lovelace’s legacy, AI, and art, along with exhibits from AI and artists with a prize competition. It is designed to encourage networking and collaboration between the AI, science and medicine and artist communities. The event comes at a time when, according to the UK education hub, women account for only 11.4% of STEM starts (2019/20). Warwick and The Turing are pleased to support the travel support and access to this event.

The event is designed to…

  • Celebrate Ada Lovelace and discuss how the sculpture in Westminster will elevate woman progression in STEM
  • Provide a networking platform for fellows to exchange ideas
  • Promote creativity through art and breakthrough in science
  • Promote gender inclusivity within the STEM community.

Event Details

The 4th annual SGTech Week 2023 brings together 150+ utility Substation, SCADA System, Utility Telecom and Cybersecurity colleagues, for a review of the latest smart grid implementation projects and innovation roadmaps.

The week-long programme combines a series of Standardisation workshops, with C’level plenary sessions, techno-commercial case-study presentations, technology innovation panel debates, and intimate end-user roundtable discussions, to drive awareness of recent successes and setbacks as well as stimulate new ideas to drive the deployment of the smart grid further faster.

The multi-track format enables participants to fully immerse in the technical domain that is most relevant to their day-to-day responsibilities, whilst being able to pick and choose sessions from other tracks to enhance their working knowledge of other domains. By bringing multiple smart grid technical teams together under one roof, IT-OT integration is not only explored, it is facilitated and promoted to help drive the next phase of smart grid deployments with greater ease.
