Yvonne Nicol

My career journey started as a hairdresser apprentice, moving through the positions to salon proprietor. Post this, I worked in a customer focussed industry which included leading and developing a team of people to deliver a world class service.

My interest in technology began when I was involved in setting up a new call centre and, from there, I have built my tech career in a variety of roles, specifically, delivering some of Centrica’s global programmes, such as: Desktop Migration, Global Virtual Workspace deployment, Service-Now transformation, Cloud Data Centre Migration, and Identity Access Management.

My skills and experience include collaborating with developers to deploy new applications and systems and liaising with operational teams.

My current role as a Salesforce DevOps Engineer involves working as part of a collaborative team driving transformation and innovation. I am responsible for the development and operational capabilities of the Salesforce platform; working with business owners to create a Salesforce community of users and continuously enhance the Salesforce instance solutions and capabilities it provides to our business.

As part of an internal initiative to encourage colleagues in different departments to expand their skills, I ran a special challenge on Trailhead, the Salesforce learning platform, which is integrated with CentricaForce, our Salesforce microsite. As well as recommending Trails focused on the capabilities of the Salesforce platform, I encouraged colleagues to develop other business skills, such as mentoring and cultivating equality at work. The challenge was a great success – in just six weeks, the participants earned around 350,000 points and two colleagues reached Ranger status, the highest rank in Trailhead!
